After a busy week of travel from Gaborone, to Palapye, and to Francistown, we enjoyed a relaxed weekend. Today, the team attended our first site visit of the project - a solar farm! We met with engineers from African Sun Energy, before heading out to view some of their installation projects. Today we attended our first school of the project, Mabogo Junior Secondary School in Palapye - and what a way to kick off our workshops. We began with a warm welcoming from the teachers and heads of school, and were greeted into the hall with a song from the pupils. After a long 24 hours of travel, we successfully arrived in Gaborone, Botswana. We had a lovely welcome on our first evening at the UK High Commissioner residence, where we talked about everything from solar panels to Glasgow nightlife. We were greeted by the depute, Eunice, colleagues of the UK Commissioner, alumni of University of Glasgow, and Bear the dog! It was such a warm and delightful beginning to our trip.
