Day 18 & 19 - Sightseeing in Kasane

With some rest days to enjoy, there was no better way to spend it than a day at the Chobe National Park. Setting off at 5am, we got into our safari car for a 6-hour game drive with a fantastic guide who took us all around the park.

We were lucky enough to see two sepearte prides of lions. The first was sleeping, and the second was waiting to hunt. We watched quietly in anticipation as a herd of buffalo crossed the water to drink for the day, whilst the lionesses staggered behind, watching their every movement. Soon enough, one of the lionesses targetted the final baby buffalo to cross back over the water. Luckily, the little buffalo managed to get away as the herd came back to its rescue. It was an exrordinary moment of nature we still can't believe we got to witness.

We saw so many other gorgeous animals too, including families of elephants, girrafes, impalas, beautiful birds, hippos and lots more. It was such a privilege to learn all about the animals and see them in their natural habitat whilst being so close to them.

Following our game drive, we had a bite to eat before getting on a little riverboat for a boat trip along the Chobe river. This was another beautiful experience, where we saw hippos and even some crocodiles up close! Sailing alongside the shore, we spotted a group of male elephants play-fighting which brought huge smiles to our faces. As the sun began to set on Chobe National Park, three elephants took to the water to cross over. Using their trunks as snorkels, they swam past us with stunning pink and orange filled skies behind them. It was an unforgettable moment witnessed by the team and the perfect way to end our time in beautiful Kasane.

When it was time to begin our journey back towards Francistown, we stopped off at the wonderful Eunice and Robert's home for another fantastic evening of chatter, reflecting on our journey through Botswana, laughter and delicious food. It was so nice to have that full-circle moment back in Francistown near the end of our journey, just as we begun it.
