To start off the week we visited Tonota JJS from 08:30-15:00 Monday and Tuesday. We had the pleasure of meeting with both the Form 3's and Form 2's, covering a total of 437 students between the two days. We conducted 3 workshops, including balloon tricycles in the morning and bridge building in the afternoon followed by a paper tower challenge.

On both the Monday and Tuesday the students were split into groups of 5 and built one balloon tricycle per team out of cardboard, straws, tape, balloon, plastic wheels and metal axels. All of the teams then raced eachother, which created a lot of excitement between the teams! This workshop allowed the team to explain basic physics principles such as Isaac Newton's 3 principles of motion and the law of conservation of energy.

After lunch we had a bridge building competition. For this, the students were provided a budget and a material list with different pricing for each item and the students chose what they would like to purchase to build their bridge. We then tested their strength using different rocks which increased in weight. Many of the bridges were structuraly stable and managed to withstand all the rocks! Following this, we completed a paper tower competition, where the students were provided 5 pieces of paper and some tape and they were to create the highest free standing tower.

After our school visit on the Tuesday we visited Shashe Dam and were shown around the water plant by the plant technicians, with an explanation of each step as to how the water makes it from the reservoir to the taps of homes in Francistown and the surrounding areas.
