Today we visited the British High Commissioner of Botswana, Sian Price, at her house in Gaborone. We presented our project, the impact it had on the children and the workshops we did. We discussed education in Botswana and the opportunities for future engineers in the country. The team hope that by sharing our project with Sian that we can inspire more projects, talks and events around the opportunities for disadvantaged students who wish to pursue engineering.

After our visit with Sian we met with students from the University of Botswana. We discussed the logistics of our project, including planning and funding, so that hopefully future University of Botswana students can continue our work in schools and the connections with FemEng. We spoke to post graduate STEM teachers who were very keen on next year’s team holding workshops in their schools. Their insight into educational culture and system in Botswana was very interesting and will be useful information for the next FemEng in Botswana team. 🇧🇼
