This was our first-day delivering workshops. We were all very excited to return to Masunga S.S.S. after such a warm welcome the day before and were eager to get started with all the workshops we had prepared. Although we had rehearsed what we would all say to introduce ourselves, everyone was still slightly nervous. It was a much larger group of young people than any of us had worked with before, and it was the first time we would explain the engineering concepts associated with the workshops to an audience. A few members of staff and students helped us to set up the area we would be working in, where we then had a little while to set up with our own supplies before the students joined us after their lunchtime.

The workshops (mostly) all went smoothly and we all had an amazing time meeting and chatting with the students. Everyone was very keen to get involved and all of the students got stuck in and excited about the activities. We did a biomedical workshop (robotic hands), an aeronautical workshop (straw rockets), and a mechanical workshop (balloon cars).

We learned a huge amount from our first day of delivering workshops which was incredibly valuable for the rest of our trip. We used the bus journey home as time to debrief from the day as a team, and make a plan for the following day, including sourcing some more scissors and a lot more straws!
