Day 14 - Day of the African Child

Today was a very special day spent at Kasane Primary school where we were invited to celebrate Day of the African Child with them. This day is all about raising awareness and protecting the rights of children in Africa, and this year's theme chosen by the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, was "Ensuring universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene for every child in Africa".

We had the opportunity to watch each class showcase what they had learned about the topic, whether they sang, performed a play, told stories or read poetry. All of the students did such a brilliant job, and we felt so lucky to have experienced it. We learned a lot ourselves about water, sanitation and hygiene which was very interesting and is something we all took from the day. The rest of the afternoon was spent with individual classes playing games, helping with some lessons and having conversations with the students about engineering.
