Day 12

Wednesday marked our final day at Nata SSS. For our third day, we were running workshops with a new group of girls who had fewer science periods than the group we had on Monday and Tuesday. We knew it was important to meet these girls, as they might need more encouragement to pursue STEM than the other students.

As we only had a couple of hours with them, we decided to run eight different activities at once where the students could choose what interested them the most and move between the stations at their own pace, like a science fair. Although the students had fewer science classes at school, this did not stop them from asking questions and being fully engaged with the workshops. Overall, this was very successful as it provided these students with the confidence and encouragement some of them may have lacked.

Before we left, we said goodbye to all the teachers. We were pleased to hear their positive feedback on our workshops and the impact they had already had on the students and the school. We exchanged phone numbers with the teachers, allowing us to easily stay in contact for the future of the project. We presented them with a Scottish flag we had brought over and made sure to take many photos to remember the school by.
